SWAYAM – NPTEL Local Chapter
Sipna College of Engineering & Technology, Amravati becomes SWAYAM-NPTEL Local Chapter
National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL) is an initiative by seven Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs)-Bombay, Delhi, Guwahati, Kanpur, Kharagpur, Madras and Roorkee and Indian Institute of Science (IISc) for creating course contents in Engineering and Science. It is funded by MHRD, Government of India. NPTEL has been offering self-study courses across Engineering, Humanities and Science streams for more than a decade. The highlight being the certification exam through which the student gets an opportunity to earn a certificate form the IITs!
To encourage more students across colleges to participate in this initiative, we are setting up SWAYAM-NPTEL chapter in colleges (with the approval of the management) which will be under the headship of a faculty members of the college. Courses delivered through SWAYAM are available free of cost to the learners, however students wanting certifications shall be registered, shall be offered a certificate on successful completion of the course, with a little fee. At the end of each course, there will be an assessment of the student through proctored examination and the marks/grades secured in this exam could be transferred to the academic record of the students. UGC has already issued the UGC (Credit Framework for online learning courses through SWAYAM)
Faculty and students can enroll for various online courses for the span of 4 weeks, 8 weeks & 12 weeks and enhance their knowledge on the respective domain and can get themselves certified by the IIT’s and IISc. Cutting-edge NPTEL online certification courses are approved for Faculty Development Programme (FDP) by AICTE. Faculty members of institutions can benefit from these FDPs.
Sipna College of Engineering & Technology, Amravati (ID 2018) has become SWAYAM-NPTEL local chapter for online courses under IIT MADRAS.
